Scripture: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”- Romans 15:13

Living from the Well That Never Runs Dry

There was a tangible sense of momentum in the room this Sunday - a continuation, not a new beginning. Before anyone arrived, before the first song was sung, God was already moving, already preparing hearts for what He wanted to say.

This week’s message reminded us that meeting with God is not a casual moment - it’s a divine invitation to hear from the One who has already thought about our future. Whether through Scripture, a friend, a pastor, or even a whisper in our spirit, God still speaks, and His Word always carries life.

The Lie We’ve Believed

From the beginning, humanity has wrestled with lies - lies that distort what God has already spoken. One of the greatest lies today is that joy is fleeting, that it depends on circumstances, success, or possessions.

“If I could just pay off these bills... if I could just get that promotion... if I could just find the right person... then I’ll have joy.”

But true joy doesn’t come from what the world manufactures - it comes from the One who created it. When the foundation of our joy is God, it becomes authentic and eternal.

Jesus told the Samaritan woman at the well:

“Whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst.” (John 4:14)

Paul echoes this in Romans 15:13 - that joy, peace, and hope are the fruit of trusting in God, made possible through the Holy Spirit. The source matters. If the source is God, the joy never runs dry.

From Filled to Overflowing

It’s not enough to have been filled by Jesus once - we’re called to remain in Him, to continually draw from the well of His Spirit. When we remain, our lives overflow.

God isn’t in the business of building puddles of joy - He creates rivers that flow. He doesn’t offer stagnant faith - He releases springs that gush forth.

When we open the wells of our hearts, that overflow begins to refresh everyone around us. Your joy becomes someone else’s encouragementYour hope becomes someone else’s lifeline.

“You prepare a table before me… my cup overflows.” (Psalm 23:5)

Even in the presence of enemies, even in hardship, our overflow testifies to the goodness of God.

Opening the Wells

The world around us is thirsty - desperate for meaning, hope, and peace. But in many hearts, the wells have been sealed shut. God’s Spirit inside of us is the answer to that thirst.

Wherever we’ve “welded shut” the wells of our lives - in fear, isolation, or self-reliance - God invites us to open them again. Because when His river flows through you, it can’t be stopped, and it can’t be silenced.

“How do you choke something that is gushing out like a spring?”

As parents, friends, and followers of Jesus, we’re called to pass on an inheritance of eternal joy, not temporary satisfaction. The same God who promised a land “flowing with milk and honey” still calls us into lives that flow with His abundance today.

Hope That Flows Forward

Hope isn’t passive - it’s alive. It moves, fills, and spills over. It connects our present struggles with God’s eternal promises.

When hope overflows, we begin to see beyond today - beyond the momentary - and into the glory of what is to come. We are no longer consumed by what’s wrong, but captivated by the God who is still writing our story.

And this hope, this joy, isn’t just for us to keep - it’s for us to pour out.

“Praise be to the God... who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)

Go and Create Gradient

The message ended with a challenge: Don’t be a puddle. Be a spring. Create gradient around you - spaces for your overflow to reach others.

This week, pour into someone else’s well. Bring the comfort, hope, and joy you’ve received from God to someone who needs it.

Because when we live in Jesus - not just remembering a moment with Him, but remaining in Him - our joy becomes unstoppable, our hope unshakable, and our lives become rivers that never run dry.
