So That His Kingdom May Come | Gareth Nicholson | 26 October 2025
1. Receive the Love of the Father
Key Scripture:
Matthew 6:9: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.”
Main points:
God’s love is unconditional, not based on performance or circumstances.
Many carry an orphan spirit, which may show as:
Need for approval
Performance-driven mindset
Fear and insecurity
Isolation from community
Truth: God sent His Son, Jesus, to die for us. This is the ultimate evidence of His love.
Receiving the Father’s love is essential for freedom and spiritual growth.
Reflection question: How does understanding God as a good Father change the way you live and pray?
2. Live Under the Reign of the King
Key Scripture:
Matthew 6:10: “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
Romans 14:17: “For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.”
Main points:
Jesus is Lord, not just Savior. The kingdom is wherever He rules in our hearts.
Kingdom life is relational:
Righteousness: Right standing with God and others
Peace: Actively pursue reconciliation
Joy: Transcendent relational joy in serving God and others
Our hearts must align with God’s reign for His kingdom to grow in our lives.
Reflection question: Are there areas in your life where Jesus is Savior but not Lord? How can you submit them to Him?
3. Respond to the Leading of the Holy Spirit
Key Scriptures:
Romans 12:2: “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Ephesians 4:23: “Be renewed in the spirit of your minds.”
Matthew 28:19-20: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Main points:
God’s will is revealed as we follow the Holy Spirit.
Sharing the gospel can be simple:
Expect God to bring people into your world.
Ask to hear their story.
Share your story of life with Jesus.
Pray for them.
When we follow the Spirit, God works through us to advance His kingdom.
Reflection question: Who has God brought into your life recently that you could share your story with?
4. Walking in God’s Will
Key Scripture:
1 Timothy 2:3-4: “This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
Main points:
God’s will is for everyone to be saved.
Walking in God’s will means living in step with the Spirit, being empowered to love and share the gospel.
God’s plan is relational: impacting others, advancing His kingdom, and seeing lives transformed.
Reflection question: How can you discern God’s will in your daily life by following the Holy Spirit?
Conclusion
Key prayer: “Our Father in heaven, your kingdom come, your will be done. Let us receive Your love, live under Your reign, and follow the Spirit daily.”
Encourage people to reflect on these three pillars:
Receive the love of the Father
Submit to Jesus as Lord
Respond to the Holy Spirit
