On Your Mark.. Get Set... GO!| Gareth Nicholson | 13 Apr 2025
Do you bear the Mark of God? In Mark 12, we read about three images: a pressed image, cleaning the mirror, and presenting the coin, which help us bear the Mark of God. The more we recognize this mark in ourselves, the easier and more important it becomes to give all we have to God and to build God's kingdom, to serve others and to reach the lost
THE WORLD needs you to show your Mark, to become who God has called you to be, and to live that out.
Text Mark 13 (NIV)
In a passage that is challenging to understand, zoom out and ask how does this fit into the big story of the Bible.
Gospel = Godspell = The story Of God
The Gospel is about New Beginnings
A new way - not the end of the world, but the end of the old way
For something new to come, something old must end.
These are the beginning of birth pains Mark 13:8
To live in Christ, we must learn to die
Gal 2:20
"Saved to serve" is a foundational biblical principle
The Gospel is that Jesus is coming back
32 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 33 Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come Mark 13:32-33
TheBible is written in a circle, like a movie, with twists and plots, characters
You are invited to find yourself in the story
Three Ways to wait for Jesus to return
Apathetic
Anxious
Alert, Active
The Gospel needs to GO!
And the gospel must first be preached to all nations Mark 13:10
Action - On your Mark... Get Set... GO!
This is the beginning, not the end. Don't think the work is done; it's just getting started
The Church is the plan A… not the building… not the service… the people - YOU
God loves people. So we love people. They matter to him, they matter to us.
