Relentless Hope

Thought about the Future inflames hope and fear… We want him to be in the maximum uncertainty, so that his mind will be filled with contradictory pictures of the future, every one of which arouses hope or fear. There is nothing like suspense and anxiety for barricading a human's mind against the Enemy. He wants men to be concerned with what they do; our business is to keep them thinking about what will happen to them. C.S.Lewis - The Screwtape Letters

What do you feel when you think about the future? What’s your first reaction when things aren’t going well in your life? Are you waiting for things to come to you, or are you moving toward things to come?

While there is always uncertainty in the future, much of the future that you will live in will depend on your decisions in the present, and the biggest of those decisions is if you will put your hope in Jesus - the one who holds the future.

'Where there's hope, there's life. It fills us with fresh courage and makes us strong again - Anne Frank

There is a longing in our hearts that only Christ can fill: a long-awaited hope. Reading passages like this about Abraham and God's promises to him, and then realizing that it has bearing on your life - through Jesus - today pulls you into a big story: God's great narrative of redemption. The Gospel is a light in the darkness. It is a message of hope in hopelessness. When we recognize the hope of Christ, things happen! You can't meet Jesus and stay the same.

When Martin Luther finally caught a glimpse of the hope of the Gospel, everything changed for him, and it sparked the reformation. He shared the spark, and it lit a fire. Share the spark!

And now we have run into his heart to hide ourselves in his faithfulness. his is where we find his strength and comfort, for he empowers us to seize what has already been established ahead of time—an unshakable hope!

A match when lit, will burn out in a few seconds. For a fire to be sustained, some fuel is needed. Jesus is both the spark and also the source to sustain that hope - God gives an invitation to run into His refuge, where we find everything we need to hold on to hope.

We have this certain hope like a strong, unbreakable anchor holding our souls to God himself. Our anchor of hope is fastened to the mercy seat in the heavenly realm beyond the sacred threshold, and where Jesus, our forerunner, has gone in before us.

The Greek word for "forerunner" was used in the timing of the writing of Hebrews to describe a smaller boat that would carry the anchor of a larger ship into the harbour, so that it could be winched in to safety from dangerous stormy conditions. J

Jesus anchors our souls in the presence of God, nothing can change that. Part of our faith journey is to slowly winch ourselves toward this hope. Anchor yourself in the hope and truth of Jesus. Move toward the things to come

Relentless hope is sparked by Jesus, sustained by Jesus, and secured by Jesus.

Who do you know that needs some relentless hope today?
